Pretotype
Today I started making a pretotype (pre-prototype) with focus on how could I find real problems. My thesis & my therein included statement is about using new technologies (especially with using the possibilities of IoT) could make the daily routine for elderly people more comfortable & enjoyable.
But what are the real challenges and how and when do they come up? Of course, I can suppose some problems. But I can't really know it. Because I'm not in that situation and I'm not almost hundred years old.
Instant needs-tracker
My «pretotype» is about to catch these moments and needs instantly. With the main goal: finding specific problem-areas. And creating in that a solution with a best possible impact.
I worked on a simple system with that(for example my 98 years old great-grandmother) easy can document time-based journal.Big and small problems can be easily documented. The interaction should be simple as possible. People who don't have any relation to technologies should handle it. I decide to take a simple button with three easy interactions.
All that for the main goal to get a visualization of a personal & individual daily-routine. Especially long-time stored data can show some repeating problem patterns and clear out in which direction my final project could go.
AD-HOC Lecturers
After the presentation session, Björn and Antonio talked about how a hypothesis works and the core of critical design on the basis of real past projects.
Next steps
- Define relevant data behind the three button-states. (What information will I get?)
- Including more parameters for more precise evaluations (position, duration etc.)
- Stabilize system
- Application test in the real world scenario.
